Spare of A Girl's Thoughts

"Life is not about finding our self, but how we create it" It's about a girl who is very fascinated about life, but yet hasn't got enough about it. She's kinda stuck between the reminiscent and the future all about but always looking forward to move on and wishing someday, neither force or vengeance would be able to restraint her from her very own freedom.

playboy indonesia *again*

i'm still surprised even after the third issue of this magazine in indonesia, some people are still being so fussy about it. i thought this so-called 'pornography issue' are no longer a big topic in indonesia, but surprisingly according to the news it's been quite difficult to find this magazine issue. so i guess there is still quite a controversy going on about this magazine being published in this country.

and most of the news agencies and news stands in indonesia even refuse to sell this magazine. according to them, they are afraid and worry for selling Playboy (PB) magazine due to some threats that might bring them to 'danger' if they keep selling the magazine. so that is why this magazine can hardly find anywhere in jakarta. even if they are willing to sell it, they can not sell it publicly.

this topic might be an old topic and sound less interesting to be discussed nowadays. but i just can't stand it and my question is WHAT'S SO BIG DEAL ABOUT IT? i mean, if it's all about the degradation of our nation's moral, then by burning down the magazine and publicly threated the magazine publisher, does it mean they're showing to indonesian future generation of how a good moral should be? puahleassee...

FYI, i'm not a big fan of pornography. as for myself, i might probably will never buy that kind of magazine. do you see what i mean? i mean, the choice to buy and consume the magazine is fully on the right of the customer. they are the ones who own the money. if those extremists think that PB as a state of demoralization, what about the other published magazines in indonesia? not only some international magazines like Maxim or FHM, don't forget the local magazines or newspapers like Popular and Bibir Merah? they are far worse that the first issue of PB itself.

and if some people think PB is degrading moral of the future generation, why not educate the distributor and the newpaper agency to sell the issues under certain conditions? for example, by refuse to sell the magazine under 18 years old. or in any other way that i think those smart indonesia people are able to think of. why not setting strict regulations about how to sell and distribute matured-age magazines? it worries me so much cuz the kids can very easily buy matured age magazine in our country.

the most hurting part is how these people are very uneducated about sex. it's very sad to see there are so many cases out there; when the morons are happened put a hidden camera inside ladies fitting room or even toilet and distribute the records and the photos in the internet.

from my point of view, those indonesian perverts are evidently in a very need of 'that' kind of entertainment. so i think by playboy is being published in indonesia, does it mean the need of this kind of entertainment are utterly fulfilled? and to save those innocence girls who are embarrassingly harrashed without the knowledge of being so, isn't it better to see the ladies in the approriate magazine who are really really willing to elegantly pose for them? rather than putting inappropriate pictures of a girl in a toilet??? whatda?

and even the most ridiculous part is when they brought the covergirl model of the first PB issue to the police. the police then suspected her for doing something with indecency and pornography action. what about the above case i've mentioned before? have any of them bring down the moron who evilly placed a camera inside the ladies fitting room and intentionally distibuted the records for public consumption? how the hell with that? where all the police when we need them to do right things?

*sigh*

sometimes it's really hard to understand some people's point of view. even though i value the idea of diversity but still violance and threathening actions are two ideas i couldn't agree with. i still believe this matter can be solved in a mannerly way *finger crossed*. in my opinion, to build a good moral in our country is by setting a example of positive attitudes. and the above two way of approaches are not even close for being just good.

note: this posting is simply a wondering notes and writer's way of thinking. the purpose is to share my idea and stories based on what i've read, seen and heard via internet and news. i'm not trying to attack anybody in any ways, who am i to judge? i'm just being a smart-ass! ;)

Thanks again for writing such a great and very interesting blog - its one of the most open & honest that I've read.

Anyway, you might be interested to know that in countries like Japan, where they have the world's highest amount of pornography published per head of population, they ALSO have the lowest incidence of sexual crime & assault - they say that these magazines help fulfil that repressed sexual need - I can't help agreeing there.

On the other hand, its very likely that the harsher repression of sex there is in a particular society (think countries like Afganistan or Saudi Arabia, even Indonesia etc), the chance of sexual assualt including rape is much higher, because so often the victims will not report it - because they are led to think that they've been shamed - that, or even led the man on!

So the criminals know they can get away with this kind of behaviour!

I'm not personally interested in porn myself (yes, I read the usual "f..k" books as a teenager!) but I agree it fulfils a need in society so we should not judge too harshly the people who read this stuff. But we also need good sex education to back up everything for both sexes - especially in regards to sexuality, contraception & STD's like AIDS. It's just common sense really!

Dear vveen and mase, pardon my cynical. but from my experience, it's almost impossible to teach these people. it's because they follow whatever politicians (religion leaders and government) tell them to do. they can't understand that they are being used.

In Japan they even sell used ladies' underwear and the picture of the owner in vending machine:-)NOT THAT I BOUGHT ANY OF IT THOUGH..hehehe. Just FYI. So maybe we should send some of those extremists to burn down the vending machines.
